Humans are wired for connection and Emily D. believes that we learn language best from interacting live with another human being. An app or computer can’t have a spontaneous conversation or provide nuanced and personalized feedback. A book and computer application can only take you so far. Whether it is in lessons with Emily D. or another service, to maximize your time, money and effort, learning a language from a human being just makes sense.
Emily D. is experienced in working with people of high influence ranging from a government official to a head of a major record label to top businessmen and women, hit songwriters, major league baseball scouts and a pop-country music superstar. She is sensitive and aware of providing confidentiality and because she keeps a very small VIP client list, she has the flexibility to adapt to a sometimes unpredictable schedule based on their line of work.

Time is one of the most valuable resources that we have and there is only so much. We’ll work together to come up with a realistic plan and timeline based on your life circumstances and responsibilities to help you reach your goals. You’re the driver and you set the pace.
To have lasting true results, it takes time, practice, the proper education and support.
Money spent on personal and professional growth is an investment in building skills for yourself as you commit to three or six month intervals. We honor your time, money and energy and are also committed in supporting you to make the most of it. There is no set time commitment other than week to week but we suggest thinking in terms of committing yourself for three to six months. This will help you settle into a period of time in which you will learn a great deal. Then, you can decide and evaluate if you’d like to keep going or complete your time in Spanish Lessons with Emily D. Either way, you go on in your life with an ability to speak Spanish to whatever level you decide to take it.
Lessons can be tax deductible depending on your line of work.
Self-Motivation comes only from the student and during phases in the learning process it is completely normal to wax and wane and doubt why you ever even started in the first place. Emily D. is here to give you the spark to keep going, and provide a frame of reference for where you are in the learning process which will help you to set realistic expectations. Also, she’ll remind you that whatever you are experiencing is more than likely normal and many others go through the same thing as they learn. She has been in your shoes.
Beginner to intermediate level students are the best fit to work with Emily D. Starting with an adult student from scratch is actually her favorite thing to do because it is a blank slate. The only place to go is up! The best feeling in the world to Emily D. is proudly watching her students progress, achieve their goals, use their Spanish in “the real world” and to continually surprise themselves with all they are able to do in a relatively short period of time. We can accommodate intermediate and advanced students with one of our native speaking teachers and will find the best fit teacher for you upon taking a baseline assessment.
If you have had limited to no Spanish experience, you are a perfect fit for our program. If you have or are not sure about a possible intermediate level, please email to take a baseline assessment and we’ll go from there.
Adult students are the best fit to work with Emily D and teachers. We have taught hundreds of people over the years that range in age from 3 to 99 years old! If you even try to think that you are too old, you’re NOT! It can be intimidating to pick something up as an adult and it may have been a very long time since you learned something new. Start today and take your language-learning journey as far as you want to go because chances are you have MANY years left of your life to live and learn and you could end up surprising yourself. Emily D. works well with people who have difficulty learning or special needs. Don’t we all have special needs?
High School Spanish Tutoring is another service Emily D. provides and thoroughly enjoys helping kids that may be struggling in school. 1 on 1 tutoring certainly helps kids get that extra attention they just can’t get in a large class size. Emily D. and her team of teachers will help your high schooler improve their grades by coaching them and helping them grasp abstract concepts as well as understand detailed grammar and verb conjugations.
